Visiting Family

This weekend was the Scrogham Family annual reunion, this year was held at McCormicks Creek State Park. We took the entire weekend just to visit those we don't get to see often.

Grandma Hanson is always happy to see the girls. She always recognizes their faces, and always remembers that Kaylen is the oldest, but she has a difficult time with names. For someone with her diagnosis, she does an amazing job remembering! She has become a lot better about not repeating questions several times during our visits, but that may be in part because the girls' keep her mind busy from the moment we get there! They love dancing and cheerleading for her. She loves watching them, too!

Grandma Scrogham is having a more difficult time hearing, but never fails to tell us how much she thinks about us. My girls haven't had a whole lot of time with Grandma Scrogham, so pictures with her are pretty special.

The girls ALWAYS love going to Bloomington to stay with Granny and Grandpa. They were definitely spoiled this weekend! We had a blast eating at my favorite pizza place (Chicago's Pizza) and took some rare pictures with Granny making silly faces.

Calgon....Take Me Away!

You can barely see our shampoo's and soaps!

Bobby's idea of a relaxing bubble bath. Our tub is 6 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 2 foot deep. We're talking a whole lotta bubbles here!!!

Summer Reading

When it's too hot outside.....we read! Oakdale offers their library every Wednesday morning through the summer for the kids to come and enjoy reading, and also take more AR Tests to keep their minds fresh. Today is definitely a hot one, so we took part of the indoor activity. The girls were so excited to see Mrs. Volz again, too!

A fun surprise for us, they have a door prize drawing each Wednesday. Our first trip there and Kaylen was the big winner! She won ice-cream shaped sidewalk chalk, a jump-rope, and a twirly wand. She couldn't wait to get home to draw on the concrete with the chalk, even though it's almost 100 degrees outside!

Kendall was able to take 2 tests while we were there and scored 100% on both of them. Kaylen took 1 test, and scored 100% on it as well. I'm so proud of them both. They are very smart, very enthusiastic little girls.

My 'Fair' Ladies

The girls both LOVE the 4-H Fair. This year we decided to go and watch the Hog Wrestling Event before we visited the animals and rides. The girls had a really good time. Of course, we ran into a ton of people we know, and it's always fun catching up.

We started the animal visits with the cows, goats, and pigs area. The girls both held their noses at first, but were excited to pet a cow that was laying down. The pigs smelled pretty ripe so the girls weren't real thrilled with the idea of touching them!

The girls were worried at first that the kids participating in the hog wrestling were (in their words) torturing the pigs, but we explained that it didn't hurt them. They squeal because they don't want to be picked up. Then they were cool with it. I got a great picture of Kaylen's face when one of the girls got dunked in the muddy water trying to pick up a big ol' pig!

We chose a good night to go. No rain, and it wasn't very hot out for all the walking we did. Bobby got his annual Lemon Shake Up drink, and the girls and I chowed on some popcorn one of the posts was offering for free. Free is always a pleasant surprise!

The girls agree that getting to pet the horses was the funnest part of the night. But they also had a blast riding the swings.

Summer Camping

What a busy, fun, exhausting weekend. We made it a 4 day weekend and went camping at Scales Lake. The girls made several new friends and were moving the entire weekend. Bike riding, walking trails, goe-caching, swimming, petting zoo, smores, and just plain out having a good time! One evening the Fullers' came out to keep us company and relax by the camp fire.

Our first evening there a little storm moved through and it rained all evening, so we spent the night in the camper having family game night and eating junk food! The girls even had powdered donuts for breakfast the following morning. Even though they were probably on a sugar high most of the weekend, the girls where very well behaved and made it a very relaxing weekend.

I was able to capture a picture of my husbands idea of roughing it......taking along the laptop and accessories so he still got cable tv! We are all looking forward to our next weekend outing!

Soccer Sign-Ups

This year, Kaylen and Kendall have decided they would like to try their hand, or should I say 'feet', at soccer. Kendall has bugged us endlessly about signing up and just couldn't wait for the day to finally get here. She had been so excited about it that I decided to take along the camera and capture her excitement. Bobby and I have absolutely no idea what happened, but as soon as we pulled into the parking lot of the soccer fields Kendall didn't want to get out of the truck. We went ahead and took a few photo's and captured Kendall's sour face. It was so funny to get home and finally see the pictures!

She is, again, very excited about getting to play the game. I just couldn't resist keeping the photo's and writing about them. Maybe one day, when she becomes the World Cup Soccer Champion, we'll be able to look back at these photo's and laugh about how she didn't want to have to sign-up to be able to play the game.

Making New Friends

Today was pretty much going to be a lazy day around the house for us, so we decided to make some plans. Before we 'hit the town' we stopped by the Matthews' house and grabbed Anakin and Anastasia. Two pretty cool kids. At first, I'm not sure they knew what to think of the girls rockin out in the truck to some TobyMac, but they warmed up pretty quick and laughed along with us. While at the playplace, the girls elected Anakin as the group leader because he was the fastest. He ended up hiding under one of the slides for a little while, overcome by all our girl power!!! My girls had such a good time, they weren't ready to let their new friends go home.
